What is happening at Happy Paws Haven
2013-2015 has been the year of meeting the accoustic housing requirements and complying the Land & Environment Court orders for our dogs and their cabins!
A big Thank you! to everyone who has contributed so that we could get this work done!
2015-2016 goals are to make sure we upgrade our cat housing, build a dog enrichment yard and upgrade the facilities for our loyal volunteers!
In line with these goals we need to complete the following major projects:
Installation of composting toilets for both the current property and the new one
The building of an outside enclosure for our cats
The modification of our cattery to meet new 2016 legislative requirements
The building of dog enrichment yards
Installation of a new water tank on the new property
Installation of Solar Power on the new property
We need donations/funds urgently to replace our current septic systems with compositing toilets as it is critical to our ability to operate.
We are planning to install composting toilet systems and a grey water absorption system instead of the septic. This is far more cost effective solution and easy to maintain!
We have a policy to minimise our impact to our natural environment!
we plant native trees and shrubs
we use tank water for all our clean water needs
Grey water goes back into to ground
Solar hot water
Recycled newspaper for litter
We need to upgrade our cat facilities!
The outside cat enclosure needs to be completed
The inside facilities need to be modified to meet the new shelter guidelines which are being drafted as a result of the recommendations of the Companion Animal Task Force.
There will be new legislation we will need to comply to so we are trying to plan ahead and make what modifications that will be required to protect the beautiful animals we have in our care!
This will mean we will be working hard to reduce numbers through adoptions to enable us to make these changes
Now we have some land, we need to build some dog enrichment yards where dogs can play, have new experiences and learn new things in preparation for their new homes.
Tunnels and mounds
Wobble boards, ramps, paths, tires, planks
Maze with various sensory things and smells along the way
Water feature and a dam for swimming
Please help us achieve these goals, please donate to ensure we are able care for the animals and help them to find new homes!

HappyPaws Haven website is a web based resource for rescue groups and members of the public needing assistance in the re-homing of their animals.
Happy Paws Haven is a no-kill animal rescue and rehoming centre in the Clarence Valley in Northern NSW which provides adoption or re-homing services throughout Australia. We also have a small branch now in Coffs Harbour. At HappyPaws Haven our primary focus is on the animals in our care. We foster a small number of dogs at a time thus are able to spend the time required to find the correct home for a dog. We only foster a new dog when a fostered dog gets a home
We are a no-kill organisation committed to caring for every animal we rescue. To achieve this we rely on the hard work of volunteers and donations from the community.
In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. From:

We have 3 critical items that need doing as soon as possible. WE NEED TO modify the dog kennels, replace the fibre board with Blue board and install some bats as there are cracks developing in the old walls. We Need To put shutters on the kennels to mollify some of the noise first thing in the mornings and to replace the outside cat enclosure. We also need a sick bay for the cats and an additional holding pen for the dogs. At the moment we have to treat them within their current location, in the managers house or find a foster carer willing to nurse a sick animal or nuture a baby.
Any donations towards these projects will be very much appreciated.
